Inaugural Mauvernay Research Excellence Scholar 2003
Dr. Hemenway Charles S. Hemenway, M.D., Ph.D. has been named the Mauvernay Research Excellence Scholar for his research into new treatments for childhood leukemias. Dr. Hemenway was awarded a $5,000 prize as well as an etched crystal tribute commemorating this honor, and he delivered the Mauvernay Scholar address ("Rational Development of an Inhibitor of t(4;11) Leukemia") at the Inaugural Mauvernay Research Excellence Seminar, October 17, 2003.

awardees Eleven other Tulane faculty researchers each received a $500 prize, an etched crystal tribute, and presented their research in poster format with discussion at the seminar.

"Identification of a Novel Immunotherapeutic Target in Patients with Ovarian Cancers"

Dr. Curiel and Dr. Zou have been named the Mauvernay Research Excellence Scholars for 2004. They will each be awarded a $2,500 prize as well as an etched crystal tribute commemorating this honor, and they will jointtly deliver the Mauvernay Scholar address ("Cancer: When Bad Things Happen to Good Cells") at the Mauvernay Research Excellence Seminar, October 8, 2003.
