S2C11P5-Lichen Simplex Chronicus

S2C11P5-1&2: Patterns of lamellar fibrosis are represented. The lamellae are parallel to the long axis of the respective (elongated) rete ridge. This type of fibrosis is often emphasized in the diagnosis of lichen simplex chronicus.

S2C11P5-3a&b: Above, the epidermis of this lesion of lichen simplex chronicus shows a psoriasiform pattern of hyperplasia; rete ridges are regularly elongated. The widened papillary dermis is fibrotic. On the right (b), the dermal papilla is both fibrotic and edematous. To the left near the bottom of the field, fibrous lamellae are parallel to the rete ridge ( lamellar fibrosis).
