Here is the finely nodular surface of a liver showing the commonest kind of cirrhosis, portal cirrhosis or alcoholic cirrhosis. These small regenerative nodules measure only a millimeter or two in diameter. In this case some of them are bile stained and others seem to be yellowish probably due to the accumulation of lipid in the hepatocytes.
