This is another skin manifestation of breast disease, called Paget's disease of the nipple. This should not be confused with Paget's disease of the bone, which is named for the same Dr. James Paget, but has nothing to do with Paget's disease of the nipple. Paget's disease of the nipple is a form of ductal carcinoma in situ. The striking characteristic of Paget's is an ulcerated an oozing nipple. The hallmark of this disease is the involvement of the epidermis by malignant, Paget's, cells. Prognosis is dependent on the extent of the underlying carcinoma.
