SBE in a 53 year old female
This is a case of sub-acute bacterial endocarditis (SBE) in a 53 year old female who died 32 days after admission for chills and fever, left hemiparesis and aortic systolic and diastolic murmurs. This valve, presumable damaged by previous rheumatic fever, shows cusps which are covered by bacterial vegetation, one of which is huge. The probes point out perforations in the valve cusps.
