Massive infarct of 1 wk. duration

This is a massive invert of the septum of about 1 week duration. This is a good example of coagulation necrosis with liquefaction beginning around the periphery. The necrotic, partially liquefied tissue is responsible for the dander of cardiac rupture at this stage of recovery.
