Thrombus in right coronary artery


This is the heart of a 52 year old woman with a history of severe, crushing chest pain for three days before death. The autopsy showed a recent thrombus in the right coronary. The right coronary supplies the SA and AV nodes, and for this reason its occlusion is more apt to lead to arrhythmia, whereas occlusion of the left is more apt to lead to failure.
