Fatty degeneration in chronic anemia

Here is an example of the fatty degeneration of myocardium in chronic anemia. The small yellow spots int the subendocardial layer of left ventricle are typical, and are some times referred to as thrush-breast appearance. It is not certain just how much this interferes with cardiac function.
