Coarctation of the aorta
This is a coarctation of the aorta. The aortic arch is held open by a clamp and a match stick between which is seen an abrupt narrowing of the vessel. It is a perforated septum occluding the lumen just distal to the left subclavian. The descending aorta is at the right. Although this specimen is from an infant, this coarctation is also seen in adults.
