Laennec's cirrhosis
On the cut section of Laennec's cirrhosis or
portal cirrhosis notice again the fine nodularity on the cut
surface. This specimen shows the tawny yellow color from which
cirrhosis gets its name. The consistency of this liver is tough
and fibrous, almost like leather. The great majority of cases of
Laennec's cirrhosis have a history of high alcoholic intake. On
the right is a so-called Zahn's infarct.
