Undifferentiated small cell (oatcell) carcinoma

UNDIFFERENTIATED SMALL CELL (OAT CELL) CARCINOMA, MICRO - Composed of small round to oval cells with scanty cytoplasm and dark nuclei. The cells are slightly bigger than lymphocytes and are called oat cells. There may also be spindle-shaped forms. Nuclei are hyperchromatic and exhibit nuclear molding. There is usually high mitotic counts and necrosis present.
