Honeycomb lung

HONEYCOMB LUNG, GROSS - END STAGE LUNG - The lung has a honeycomb appearance grossly. Microscopically, there is bronchiolar-alveolar ectasia with squamous and mucinous metaplasia of bronchiloes and alveoli. There is prominent interstitial fibrosis. Etiologies include DIP, UIP, interstitial pneumonitis associated with collagen vascular diseases, asbestosis, berylliosis, sarcoidosis, LIP, DAD, recurrent aspiration, allergic alveolitis, and idiopathic.
