FERRUGINOUS BODY, MICRO - The asbestos fiber is a fusiform beaded rod which usually has a translucent center. The translucent center is not visualized here. It is surrounded by a proteinaceous iron-containing coat. The ferruginous body is surrounded by histiocytic and type II pneumatocytes in this image.
