- Information
about HIV/AIDS Resources in New Orleans
(Link soon to come)
Check out this site for information on the different organizations
that help people with HIV/AIDS in New Orleans and the latest local
statistics.
- The NO/AIDS
Taskforce Annual Walk
The NO/AIDS Walk is one of the events we participate in annually.
Check out this link on how you can join our Tulane team by walking
or supporting those who will.
- World AIDS Day - December 1st
This past year marked the first time that World AIDS Day was commemorated
with a health fair in Congo Square, Louis Armstrong Park. Many of
the groups listed on the HIV/AIDS resource list above participated
and Tulane students helped out by packing condoms for distribution
and attending the fair to help check blood pressures.
- Mardi Gras Condom Patrol (co-sponsored with MD/MPH
group)
One of our most popular annual events, the Condom Patrol is one
of those things you find "only in New Orleans." Look for
signs and sign up sheets (and more of those great yellow T-shirts)
in February.
- Global
AIDS Epidemic and AIDS in Africa week (April 8-12, 2002)
This past year was also the first Tulane AIDS in Africa Week. Run
by Physicians for Human Rights and Student Global AIDS Campaign,
with assistance from Tulane's SPH International Health department
and CMIG, this week was designed to raise awareness about the AIDS
epidemic and what we as students and physicians can do to help.
