The Foundations in Medicine course provides the grounding in the physician-patient
relationship that is central to all of medical practice. It includes medical
interviewing, medical ethics, community preceptorships, service learning,
preventive medicine, human behavior and the healthcare system as well
as other topics and issues important for contemporary medicine. Foundation
in Medicine II includes normal and abnormal human behavior, growth and
development, and the continuation of discussions on ethics, professionalism,
and other current healthcare issues begun in the first year course. It
meets several afternoons throughout the second year.
