General Objectives
- To understand the problem of emerging antibiotic resistance, both in the U.S.
and world-wide
- To review strategies for rationale use of antibiotic prescribing in the outpatient
setting
- To review strategies for targeted, pathogen-specific antibiotic prescribing in
the inpatient setting
- To review strategies for surveillance of nosocomial infections and to learn how
infection control committees function in hospitals.
