In this time of increasing cost constraints and greater pressures/demands upon
the health care system and providers to provide more effective, efficient care,
several innovative models of care are being developed to address these trends.
In this seminar, different models of care will be presented for review and discussion,
such as the PACE model for frail older adults, group visits, and the use of a
comprehensive interdisciplinary team style of management.
Goals and Objectives
- Provide a background on the forces influencing the delivery of care,
particularly for older adults - including public programs (e.g. Medicare,
Medicaid), historical trends.
- Provide a background on financial analysis, specifically in understanding
basic concepts underlying balance sheets.
- Provide an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of current models of care.
- Encourage the exploration and development of new models in the delivery of care.
Students
Minimum Number: 8
Maximum Number: 12
Agenda
The seminar will follow an interactive case-based small-group approach. There
