Transportation: Fly into Kampala; ground transport will be arrange fo you; a pre-travel meeting with both Dr. Theis and Father Owens is required. A miniumun six-week stay is strictly enforced--requests to spend less than six weeks with the Kellermans will NOT be approved.
Setting: Rural health clinic and public health experience, locaed near the edge of the Bwindi Impentrable Forestin SW Uganda, serving the local Pygmy population region.
Supervisor is Dr. Scott Kellerman and his wife, Carol. This experience is very "hands-on" and requires basic clinical and surgical skills, including start IVs and performing minor skin surgeries, such a draining abcesses. Duration: Two months
Tuition or fees: None
Housing Room/Board Costs: $50 per week. Student stay with the Kellermans at the clinic compound.

Prerequisites: This experience is available only to Tulane students who have completed their core clerkships in medicine, surgery, ob/gyn, pediatrics, and family medicine. Additional Comments:
Though the Kellermans’ work helping the Pygmies is funded through the Episcopal Church, Dr. Kellerman welcomes students of all faiths and spiritual backgrounds. Spirituality and prayer are a part of the process by which the Kellermans help the Pygmies in their medical educational and agricultural endeavors.
