Biography
Dr. Alys Alper is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Tulane University Health Sciences Center. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Tulane University in 1985, with a major in Biology. Subsequently, she received a Medical Doctorate and an MPH from Tulane University School of Medicine and School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 1993. Her residency training in Internal Medicine was completed at Tulane in 1996, and she received her Board Certification in August of 1996. From 1996-1997, Dr. Alper was Chief Resident for the Tulane Internal Medicine Residency Program.
She joined the faculty in 1997 and has divided her time amongst patient care, resident teaching, and administration. She served as the Interim Director of the Internal Medicine Practice from March of 2000 to July of 2001 and is currently the Assistant Chief of Administration for the Section of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Dr. Alper is also actively involved in the Ambulatory Curriculum for the residency training program. One of her major areas of clinical focus is hypertension, and, in May of 2003, she earned a certificate of specialization as a Hypertensionologist.
Clinical Interest
Her clinical interests are in hypertension, osteoporosis, and internal medicine.
