Biography
Dr. Akhil Parulkar is presently a staff physician in the Section of Geriatrics, Medicine Service Line at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He also holds an appointment as an Instructor of Clinical Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in the Section of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.
Dr. Parulkar completed his formative medical school training in India and obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBBS) from the University of Bombay, India. He then came to the United States to pursue his post-graduate studies. Dr. Parulkar completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the St. Barnabas Hospital, New York City and then moved to New Orleans, where he completed fellowships in both Endocrinology and Metabolism and Geriatric Medicine under the auspices of the Tulane University Health Sciences Center and its affiliated hospitals.
Dr. Parulkar is board certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Geriatric Medicine under the auspices of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Clinical Interests
He is interested in adult and geriatric clinical medicine. Dr. Parulkar also enjoys interacting with his colleagues and considers it a stimulating and vital aspect of learning.
