Medical Student Objectives

 

The expectation of the eight-week clerkship in Obstetrics and Gynecology is that you build a solid foundation of knowledge, skills, and attitudes which you will need in obstetrics and gynecology, regardless of the specialty you choose to enter.  This basic foundation is outlined in the following objectives.  In addition, specific knowledge and skills you are expected to demonstrate by the end of the clerkship are further outlined. 

I Perform both comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physicals for both obstetric and gynecology patients and for both adolescent and adult females
II Generate a problem list, form a diagnostic impression and develop a management plan
III Assess primary and preventive health screening for all women
IV Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills
V Display professionalism
VI Diagnose and manage various obstetrical conditions
VII Diagnose and manage various gynecological conditions
VIII Procedures for obstetrics/gynecology
