Residency Training

General Information

The Tulane Orthopaedic Residency Program offers comprehensive education, experience, and care facilities for both general and specialty othopaedics. Six applicants are selected each year to complete five years of training in orthopaedics. Residents are supervised by attending and research staff with expertise and training in various orthopaedic sub-specialties.

POST-KATRINA UPDATE

Due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina in the Greater New Orleans area, the Tulane orthopaedic residents have been temporarily relocated to other training programs. Our progam shall return to New Orleans on the first of July, 2006.

How To Apply for the Match --

Our department will select candidates who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and research abilities. Please submit all the documents listed below with your application. Only completed applications will be considered.

  • An original ERAS Application (through your Medical School Dean of Student Affairs)
  • Three letters of recommendation, two from persons who have supervised your work, and one from the Chairman of the Orthopaedic Department of your home school.
  • Dean's letter.
  • Medical school transcript.
  • Board scores.
  • A personal statement expressing your reasons for pursuing orthopaedic surgery.


The Department participates in ERAS, the Electronic Residency Application Service. ALL applications must be received through this electronic medium.

All international medical school graduates must contact their local ECFMG office for application information.
