E- Buenas tardes, soy el Dr.

     Good Afternoon, I am Dr.

L- Buenas tardes Dr. Me llamo Ligia.

     Good Afternoon Dr.  My name is Ligia

E- Mucho gusto en conocerla, que la trae al medico?

L- Tengo todo el lado izquierdo debil y siento como dormido. 

     My left side is weak and it feels numb.

L- Como hormigueo

     It feels tingly.

E- Cuantos años tiene, Doña Ligia?

     How old are you, Ms. Ligia?

L- Sesenta y Ocho

     Sixty eight

E- Cuando empezo este problema?

     When did this problem start?

L- Ayer en la noche.  Empezo en mi pie y subio de ahi.

     Last night, it started in my foot and went up from there.

E- Nunca perdio el conocimiento?

     You never lost consciousness?

L- No, solo senti adormecido y como que no podia moverme bien.

     I just felt numbness and felt like I couldn’t move well.

E- Es constante?

     Is it constant?

L- Si

     Yes

E- Hay algo que agrava o alivia el  malestar?

     Is there anything that aggravates or aleviates this feeling?

L- No

E- Tiene alguna otra molestia?

     Do you have other complaints?

L- He tenido un dolor de cabeza y  tambien desde ayer como que veo negro en un ojo.

     I have had a headache and since yesterday my vision in one eye has gone black.

E- Tiene otros problemas medicos?

      Do you have any other medical problems?

L- Si, tengo presion alta.

     Yes, I have high blood pressure

E- Cuando fue la ultima vez que vio a un medico?

     When was the last time you saw a doctor?

L- No me acuerdo.

     I can’t remember

E- Hace cuanto esta en EEUU?

     How long have you been in the US?

L- Siete anos

     Seven years

E- Ha estado hospitalizada alguna vez?

     Have you ever been hospitalized before?

L- Si, tuve una operación para quitarme el utero, tambien tuve una operación de los ojos porque tenia cataratas.

     Yes, I had an operation to remove my uterus, and I also had an operation on my eyes because I had cataracts.

E- Toma algun medicamento?

     Do you take any medicines?

L- Solo hormonas para lo de la menopausia

     Only hormones since I have been through menopause.

E- Tiene alguna alergia?

      Do you have any allergies?

L- Soy alergica a la penicillina.

     I am allergic to penicillin.

E- Con quien vive?

     Who do you live with?

L- Vivo con mi hija, su esposo, y mis nietos.

      I live with my daughter, her husband and my grandchildren

E- Que hace durante el dia?

     What do you do during the day?

L- Veo television, cocino, y cuido a mis nietos cuando llegan de la escuela.  Soy activa.

     I watch TV, cook, and take care of my grandkids when they get home from school.  I am active.

E- UD fuma Doña Ligia?

     Do you smoke Ms. Ligia?

L- No Dr.   Desde hace 10 anos.

     No Dr.  I haven’t smoked in 10 years.

E- Y toma bebidas alcholicas?

      Do you drink alchoholic beverages?

L- No... Bueno, un poquito de whisky

     No… Well, a little whisky

E- Hay enfermedades en su familia?

     Are there any diseases that run in your family?

L- Si-Diabetes de parte de mi mama, y presion alta departe de mi papa.  Tambien tengo un primo retardado.

     Yes, my mother father and brother all had diabetes, my sister has high blood pressure.  I also     have a retarded cousin.

L- No

E- Sufre de nauseas o vomitos?

     Do you suffer from nausea or vomiting?

L- No

E- Estrenimiento o diarrhea?

     Constipation or diarrhea?

L- Tengo hemorroides

     I have hemorrhoids.

E- Ha tenido alguna vez un derrame cerebral?

     Have you ever had a stroke?

L- No, nunca.

     No, never.
