Antoine Augustin MD, MPH

Dr. Augustin received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Loyola University in Chicago, his M.D. from the Medical College of Wisconsin and his MPH from Harvard. He trained in surgery at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in New York City and in Pediatric Surgery at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Boston where he was also a research fellow. He holds a board certification in surgery. Upon his return to Haiti, Dr Augustin founded the “Institut Haitien de l’Enfance” an entity that has become the premier health systems research establishment in the country. He also founded the MARCH Foundation, as well as a network of hospitals and urgent care centers called Citymed.
During his career, Dr Augustin served on the faculties of New York University, the Harvard School of Public Health and Tulane University. In addition to running the MARCH Foundation, Dr Augustin serves as a consultant for several bilateral (USAID, CDC), multilateral (UNFPA, UNICEF, WHO, UNAIDS, the Inter-American Development Bank etc.) and national organizations, both public (the Ministry of Public Health of Haiti) and private. His principal interests are in health systems development and health sector financing.
