Dr. Holly Murphy, M.D., M.P.H.
Research Assistant Professor of Medicine
Dr. Murphy received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Michigan and her M.D. from Michigan State University. Her Internal Medicine, Public Health, and Infectious Diseases training was at Tulane Medical Center. During her Public Health training she was a Pediatric AIDS Foundation Elisabeth Glaser Fellow, where she evaluated risk factors associated with mother-to-child transmission of HIV in New Orleans. During Internal Medicine training she was an American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) Benjamin H. Kean Fellow in Nepal, where she developed screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases including HIV and developed guidelines for HIV screening and treatment during pregnancy. During her Infectious Disease training, she was a Burroughs Wellcome Fund-ASTMH Postdoctoral Fellow, where she participated in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the DOT-ARV intervention in Haiti.
Her current position as Clinical Instructor in the Department of Medicine, Infectious Diseases Section and in the Department of Tropical Medicine in the School of Public Health allows for her continued participation in the development of the HIV Program and clinical research in Haiti.
She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-eligible in Infectious Diseases with particular interest in HIV/AIDS clinical care and research in resource poor areas and has significant experience in New Orleans, Nepal and Haiti.
