As some of your may know, the School of Medicine recently formed an Office of Information Technologies (OIT), with Dr John W. Scott, Ph.D., MD as the newly appointed Associate Dean of Information Technology. As the newly appointed Director, I am excited to announce that we are forming a student advisory board.

Each year's class will have the opportunity to put forth two representatives with another member of the class to serve on the student representation board. The committee is responsible for collecting and conveying the technology needs of their class and making recommendations to the OIT office for implementation.

Want to have a computer co- op? Palm Pilot schedules that sync to the Internet? Wireless e-mail during lectures and in wards? Patient bedside information tracking? Exams via the web? Telecast lectures? YOUR opinion
counts! And YOUR opinion is what the OIT office is after. Make a conscience effort to contribute to the technological advancement of your school by joining the new Office of Information Technologies (OIT). Please drop me a quick e-mail (Bruce E. Bowdish, Ph.D. bowdish@tulane.edu) with your interest in joining, and specifying which class you are currently in (2005, 2004, 2003 or 2002). This is an exciting opportunity that can not only extend the knowledge of those already well versed in computers, but teach those that have an interest in moving forward using technology.
