Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical
Education - The Accreditation Council for Graduate
Medical Education is responsible for the accreditation of post-MD medical
training programs within the United States. Accreditation is accomplished
through a peer review process and is based upon established standards and
guidelines.

The American Board of Medical
Specialities (ABMS) - The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
is an organization of 24 approved medical specialty boards. The intent of
the certification of physicians is to provide assurance to the public that
those certified by an ABMS Member Board have successfully completed an
approved training program and an evaluation process assessing their ability
to provide quality patient care in the specialty. The ABMS serves to
coordinate the activities of its Member Boards and to provide information to
others concerning issues involving specialization and certification of
medical specialists.

The American
Board of Internal Medicine - The American Board of Internal Medicine is
the only recognized board in the specialty of internal medicine and is one
of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
The ABIM is an independent, non-profit organization whose certificate is
recognized throughout the world as signifying a high level of physician
competence. The Board receives no public funds and does not issue licenses.

Educational Research Association: Division I - AERA is the most
prominent international professional organization with the primary goal of
advancing educational research and its practical application. Its 20,000
members are educators; administrators; directors of research, testing or
evaluation in federal, state and local agencies; counselors; evaluators;
graduate students; and behavioral scientists.

Association for the Behavioral
Sciences and Medical Education (ABSAME) - This
site is designed to familiarize users with ABSAME, provide updates on upcoming
events, and provide you with access to valuable medical education and behavioral
science resources available on the internet. ABSAME is an
interdisciplinary professional society dedicated to strengthening behavioral
science teaching in medical schools, residency programs, and in continuing
medical education.

Association for the Study of Medical Education
- ASME draws its members from all areas of medical education - undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing - and
from all specialties. It has a function as a forum for debate and exchange of information, and is building on its
contacts in medicine and teaching in the UK and among other networks, to promote knowledge and expertise
in medical education.

Center for Instructional Support (CIS)
- This site presents information and resources for helping educators in all the health
professions enhance their instructional, leadership/management, and research skills, with
additional resources that can help them with career development. This site is presented as
a contribution to the health professions by the Center for Instructional Support and the
CIS team, (including our Web Site Advisory Board), and by the University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center. The site includes information on conferences, fellowships,
funding, organizations, workshops, links to other sites, and other resources. It is an
excellent resource.

Council for Foreign Medical Graduates - "the Educational Commission for
Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) assesses the readiness of international
medical graduates to enter residency or fellowship programs in the United
States that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical
Education (ACGME).

Harvard Macy Institute
- The Harvard Macy Institute was initially established in 1994, through a grant
from the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation. The Institute is a
collaborative effort of faculty from Harvard Medical School, Harvard Graduate
School of Education and Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
The goal of the institute is to create and foster a worldwide community of
scholars working on innovative change in medical education at the undergraduate,
graduate, and continuing professional development levels. Over 900
scholars from around the world have participated in the two core programs on
which the institute's reputation is based.

The Institute
for International Medical Education- The Institute for International
Medical Education was established in 1999 and has been entrusted with the
development of "global minimum essential (core) requirements" to be required
by physicians throughout the world, as well as the task of collecting global
information on different aspects of education of the medical profession.
After testing these "essentials" in a few leading medical schools, they will
be offered to the academic community as a tool to secure a quality of
physicians' education worldwide.

World
Association of Medical Editors (WAME) - The World Association of
Medical Editors is a voluntary association of editors from many countries
who seek to foster international cooperation among editors of peer-reviewed
medical journals. WAME helps medical journal editors fulfill their
responsibility to ensure that reports of medical research provide valid
information in a form that is readily accessible by researchers, medical
practitioners and othersby providing educational resources and a forum for
discussion of issues in research publication. In particular, WAME
aims to assist editors in developing countries and editors of small
journals, who often face difficulties obtaining high-quality manuscripts,
may lack formal training in editing, and have limited finances and access to
publication expertise.

World Federation for Medical Education
- The World Federation for Medical Education is a organization concerned with
the education and training of medical doctors. Its activities cover all
stages of medical education, i.e. basic (undergraduate) medical education,
postgraduate vocational and specialist training and continuing medical
