Education on the Protection of Human Research
Participants
Beginning on
October
1, 2000, the
National Institutes of Health (NIH) will require education
on the protection of human research participants for all
investigators submitting NIH applications for grants or
proposals for contracts or receiving new or non-competing
awards for research involving human subjects. Therefore, on
all applications for IRB approval for protocols involving
NIH support, key personnel will be asked to detail the
education they have completed in the protection of human
research subjects. An on-line training module from NIH may
be accessed at http://ohsr.od.nih.gov./.
Another useful module developed at the University of
Minnesota can be found at http//:www.research.umn.edu/consent/menu_soc.html
