Research Manual for Uptown Investigators

INTRODUCTION

The Tulane University Office of Research has prepared this manual to guide uptown campus investigators in finding funding opportunities, submitting proposals, managing awards, and identifying special issues related to sponsored research.

Tulane assumes certain obligations when it accepts a sponsored project, whether in the form of a grant, a contract or a cooperative agreement. These obligations, imposed by the sponsor, by the government, or by Tulane itself, include allowable and unallowable project costs, fiscal management and accountability of research awards, and the ethical treatment of research h subjects. The research environment is increasingly regulated, and Tulane must actively monitor the conduct of research in order to remain competitive.

The Office of Research assists faculty on the uptown campus with locating funding information, initiating and processing proposals, and administering awarded sponsored projects in accordance with the practices and policies of both Tulane and the sponsoring agencies. It also acts as a liaison between investigators and other campus offices on grant or contract related matters. An investigator needing help with purchasing, payroll, or accounting issues can contact the Office of Research. The staff are always available to answer questions related to sponsored research. Please call 865-5272 for assistance.
