Federally Negotiated Rate Agreement Dated: April 4, 2008
• On-Campus Organized Research: 49%, Modified Total Direct Costs (MTDC)- Total direct costs excluding capital expenditures (buildings, individual items of equipment exceeding $2,500; alterations and renovations), that portion of each subaward in excess of $25,000; hospitalization and other fees associated with patient care whether the services are obtained from an owned, related or third party hospital or other medical facility; rental/maintenance of off-site activities; student tuition remission and student support costs (e.g., student aid, stipends, dependency allowances, scholarships, fellowships).
• On-Campus Other Sponsored Activities Rate : 33.5% MTDC
• Off-Campus rate : 26% MTDC, Rate applied to activities performed in facilities not owned by the institution and to which rent is directly allocated to the project.
• Drug Study Rate : 25% total costs

• Project costs which are not supported by an external sponsoring agency, either due to a requirement of the agency or at the grantee's initiative, constitute cost share. Cost sharing is normally a departmental responsibility/Commitment and must be discussed with the Departmental Chair prior to submitting a proposal. The Office of Research Administration can answer specific questions concerning cost sharing.
